9-5pm Studio Life


Have I mentioned that we have only 1 hour lecture for the whole week? Yes you heard me right. So you must be thinking why on earth are we Masters students so busy?! Well the answer is simple, we are expected to be in the studio from 9am-5pm everyday. This course is mainly structured with group works for most of the assignments which is why we are encouraged to work in studio everyday for easy communication amongst the group mates. Well, not complaining :)

Firstly because it is of course, yummy, secondly it is because it's easy to prepare (boil the carrot and potato while grilling the bacon) and thirdly, it is indeed economical! (£1.50 for 1kg of bacon - bliss!)

Dear Future Me.



Well I'm pretty sure at the point when I'm reading this, it will be the future me, be it the next couple of second, minute, hour, day, week, or year. I doubt there is anyone left who is bothered to read this space of mine, therefore I shall from now onwards sort of well, talk to myself :) hah! My own little personal space which I will eventually laugh at myself for whatever nonsensical stuff that I've blogged, for example now? To be honest, I have no particular thing I want to blog about, or maybe there are too many awesome things happening around me, or maybe I'm just taking everything negative to something positive? Something that is worth celebrating is the approved PR application (not myself), at least now another secured platform is built, one step at a time :)

And also my ARCH 401 design was chosen by my team mates to be brought forward for ARCH402, where we were to develop the chosen design to something feasible and buildable. Definitely feel honored and happy to have my design chosen! Hopefully we will execute for this group project! ;) I must say, a year out working (15 months to be exact) has indeed build and nurture me into someone more mature, at least for the field of architecture. Til now, I still feel blessed to land myself in one of prestigious Uni in UK to continue my Masters, especially when everyone says that it is impossible to continue Masters in the UK if we take our undergrads in the University of Melbourne (outside UK). Oh well, action speaks louder than words, and nothing is impossible as long as we keep the will and faith burning. Currently working on another group project, ARCH407 Construction and Management for passive design research to make a report. Surprisingly, I find it quite fun (besides being undeniably educational) and never had I felt this thrill while gaining knowledge because I know if I were to study about this without a year out gaining experience, I would definitely fret about this assignment, grumble and agitated by the fact that we have to do this lousy crap assignment because I used to think Architect just have to draw and visualize and let the structural engineer work things out (?!). However for now, I take it as an assignment which broadens our knowledge in architecture which will be very useful when we spread our wings to be an Architect. Yeah, I think I will want to be an Architect one day. Long way still to go. Again, one step at a time.

Have I mentioned that traveling in the UK is AWESOME? Loving the train system here, convenient and efficient. Spent my weekend at Glasgow which is of course enjoyable, and I am loving my Country Road travel bag (yes the one that everyone is using in Australia) which acts as my TRAVEL PILLOW. Love the fact that the train is not always full, which enables us to occupy 2 seats and all I have to do is put my Country Road and one end and spread my legs to another seat. Well, if you can imagine. And the fact that the train station is within walking distance to where I'm living, awesomeness. Bought my ticket to London for Christmas, yes BOXING DAY gaga oohlala which only costed £7.60 and the Eurostar ticket to Paris from London £84 return ticket. Now you know the reason why we choose to save and TRAVEL here!! And have you soaked in the fact that 2011 is coming to an end?! I haven't even get used to writing 2011 yet whenever I write dates and now 2012 is approaching! Just in case it is the end of the world, I want to tell everyone, live life to the fullest!

Alright Monday tomorrow, but there's no class. Yes first I have Friday off and now Monday as well, but everyday is working day for us architecture students. Notice I no longer spell architecture as architOrture? hehehehe well for now! Hopefully this positive attitude stays! ;) Oh it should, it is, and it will, do you hear that, the future me? *stern eyes. 

Have I also mentioned that I'm going to Dublin this weekend!?! And it is another new country - Ireland, not part of UK! Time to update my TripAdvisor map. Oh the enthusiasm.

So it has been about a month since I moved to a city halfway around the globe. Blessed to have met a group of Malaysians when I was cooking my Tomyam Instant noodles Joe recommended me to buy during our Bangkok trip. I remembered that day, the horrendous-dejavu-no-credit-card-ticket-not-valid-crap-in-"reminiscent"-to-what-happened-to-SIA-air-ticket-from-Melbourne-to-Penang, almost 2 years ago, which-my-London-to-Liverpool-train-ticket-I-bought-is-no-longer-valid-oh-never-mind. Walking down the street looking for a pot to cook my maggie with an empty stomach was definitely not pleasing, not until I bumped into the shopping street, Church street H&M, Primark, River Island, Topshop and all the other wonderland. Anyway enough of shopping craps and back to the topic, no doubt the bunch of them are all younger than me! In fact, they are all younger than me by 2 to 5 years, the horror. Being the youngest in the office and being pampered for a year definitely bulge in the hard time getting used to being the oldest. But it definitely brings back the enthusiasm I used to have. And look how much I've changed. The age is indeed kicking in I must say! However, life here is surprisingly better than I expected. Met a few amazing individuals and slowly getting used to the accent and lifestyle and diving back into architecture studio, yes designing again! Besides, staying just 2 minutes away from Architecture faculty has made studio my second home, since we Masters students are expected to be in studio from 9am-5pm@@ Nevertheless, to own a room to myself? bliss! :) There'll be a final crit next week for our first project, I made myself a promise I'll make myself a laser cut model, and I finally did it today! Never expect working a whole day in the creative workshop can be this draining! But it is definitely worth it to bask in satisfaction once the model is done. *syok sendiri* Alright, no pictures here since Facebook is doing all the post-the-picture-job now :) Have a great day ahead everyone. It has been really long!

Hello... knock knock... anybody there........??

Oh well, it has been a while since the last time I talk to myself (?!?!) hah! Since the last post many have been happening. Had my last few days in Singapore with plenty of gatherings, saying goodbye is never easy. Back to beloved home sweet Penang for a little break and I almost forgot the awesome feeling of being home. 2 and 1/2 weeks passed by swiftly and before I know it, off I am to a place halfway round the globe. Still adapting the new life here. Met some new 'instant' friends while cooking 'instant' noodles. hah! Getting nervous being back to Architorture course, the sleepless nights and now without anyone to share the zombie-sleepless-fatigue-ness-horror-or-whatever-you-call-it. Okay la, not used to blogging anymore. Will try to blog more often and all the best to me!

Now it is located at a pathetic shed upsetting maximus.

Next day, off to Liverpool. 2 hours 15 min train ride with my 30kg + 20kg++ stuff finally shifted up to my hostel (without lift) after 30 minutes. Registered etc and now there are still a few items to be ticked. But so far so good. And surprisingly I am not grumbling things over here are expensive, but to be honest, they are quite cheap! Okay, I should put it as - reasonably priced!




Chilly weather! The bliss of layering fashion is back! :)
